How long have you been photographing weddings?
I photographed my first wedding in 2008, and immediately fell in love with it. I still love shooting weddings!
Do you work alone?
Most of the time, with the coverage I offer, I do work alone. I have found that I am able to shoot very well by myself. There is an option for a second photographer should you decide that your wedding would benefit from having two photographers present.
Should I give you a shot list?
I really don’t need one. After almost ten years of photographing weddings, I know what photographs are the ‘must haves’ that show up in shot lists anyway. If I am constantly checking to make sure I’ve ticked off every item on a shot list, I’m probably going to be missing some great moments.
Can we recreate a photo we saw on Pinterest/do the jumping bridal party shot/do the groomsmen pick up the bride shot?
I think photography should be fun, but this stuff has been done to death. If you have a great original idea for a photo, let me know and we can try it! I will take great photos of the wedding party and your families, but it just wastes time to do the cliche photos that you’ll look back on in five years and try to figure out why we made that photo.
Why do all of your packages include an album?
Think about any time you looked at your parents’ or grandparents’ wedding photos – there were probably in an album. If they taken them on a floppy disc or some other form of obsolete technology, you wouldn’t have been able to look at them. USB sticks are great right now – they’re reliable, portable and easy to replace if they break. But 20 years from now, will computers even be able to read them? You’ll always be able to pick up a printed album. Future proof your wedding images!
Do you travel?
I am available for travel anywhere in Canada. If I can drive there, there is no extra charge for travel. If I have to take a plane, let me know and we can discuss it. :)
Why do all of your packages include an engagement session?
Because there is no better way to get comfortable in front of the camera than being in front of the camera! It’s a low pressure, stress free, fun shoot where we can take our time to get some great images. Time is a hot commoditity on the wedding day, so the easier you are in front of the camera the best. Practice makes perfect!
Are there any other vendors you recommend?
Yes! Lovebird Bridal is an amazing bridal gown shop. Not only do they have absolutely gorgeous wedding dresses, they also have bridesmaid and mother of the bride gowns as well. Laceface Makeup Artistry is my favourite makeup up artist – every wedding I’ve photographed that has had Lacey as the makeup artist has looked great and been thrilled with how quickly and expertly Lacey works. There are other great vendors I’ve worked with – if you’d like some other suggestions, feel free to ask!
